I am a virtual person - Opensource Obscure is my name in Second Life and elsewhere.

I manage an Opensim server and contribute to Cyberlandia, a self-managed DIY italian grid.

I'm Sean Dague, one of the opensim developers. I saw this community started by Rich on twitter, and wanted to come and lurk to see how people are using OpenSim. I expect to be more of a listener than a speaker in this group.

Great to see you all here.

Hello everyone, my name is Dave Levinson and I operate a virtual world development firm called Cranial Tap, Inc. We are actively developing on the OpenSim platform and have big ideas to make this a compelling avenue for organizations interested in pursuing virtual worlds. I look forward to engaging this group.

Hi All,

Sean just pointed out the OpenSim Ning Group to me, thanks Sean! I am an OpenSim promoter on my blog Ugotrade and anywhere else I get the chance! Next week Wednesday, July 23rd at Global Kids in New York City, at Metaverse Meetup, I will moderate a presentation/panel on OpenSim by David Levine (IBM) and Adam Frisby (Deep Think/OpenSim) and other New York OpenSim developers. This event will be a 7pm at Global Kids.

This Metaverse Meet up on 7/23/08 is limited to the first 40 who RSVP so please reply as soon as possible on the event listing to ensure that you have a spot:

http://gamedev.meetup.com/153/calendar/8359764/

Hope any of the OpenSim community in the New York area at this time will come! If you are an OpenSim developer it would be excellent if you could take part in the presentation. But please RSVP also to reserve a spot!

See you there!
Tish

Hey everyone!

I saw this in Opensim's IRC channel and decided to go ahead and join! I am one of the original developers. I've done the parcel support and a large chunk of the permissions system. I've also been fiddling around with estate settings as well.

Right now I work for DeepThinkLabs developing for OpenSim and for various other projects. I am an upcoming Sophomore at Tennessee Technological University double-majoring in Computer and Electrical Engineering.

In world, I go as "Ming Chen" and have been a resident for several years. Feel free to send me a Friend Invite :)

Mike

Hallo. You may have seen me around in-world or on irc, as I'm a fairly regular visitor to both.

I am an artist working in the IT industry, and my skills are just as eclectic in OpenSim/SL (scripting, testing, texturing, animating, etc.) My favorite thing to do is building virtual spaces, and I am responsible for (slowly) putting together SeaPrior Plaza on OSGrid.

I am a roleplayer (of the funny-shaped-dice variety), and one of my goals for OpenSim is to use it to enhance the online tabletop-style RP experience, a project which I refer to as VWORP (Virtual World Online Roleplaying) to distinguish it from MMORPGs (because "Massively Multiplayer" is definitely not my goal, and most MMOs are only secondarily about roleplaying).

And if you suspect that particular semi-pretentious acronym might be an in-joke, you might be right.

To that end, I also am responsible for building the Candlewick region on OSGrid, and I operate a private grid for my mad experiments.
